The Good Ship Band

The Good Ship Band is a four-piece folk rock outfit from Tonbridge, Kent. Formed in April 2009, the band sold out their first gig at the revered 100 Club and have received 7 record deal offers to date; testimony to their relentless gigging throughout the South East and an irresistibly melodic debut record. Propelled by the songsmithery of frontman Jez Harley and guitarist/signed songwriter Ed Bingham (NorthStar Music), the band tend to draw influence from classic songwriting greats such as Bruce Springstein, Simon & Garfunkel and the Dave Matthews Band.

With top bassist James Elliott and session drummer Simon Whiting completing the line-up, the band’s live reputation has resulted in the act being sought out by all corners of the industry. The Cabbage Media Company were first to identify the act’s potential and a management deal was agreed in April 2010. Following a flood of offers, the band were then approached by up-and-coming film-makers Blindeye Films (Sigur Ros, Bryan Adams, Family Force 5) and the two parties collaborated to produce a stunning video for live favourite ‘Hometown’. With such momentum, the band are back in the studio in June to record the follow-up to their debut record, ’The Good Ship Band – Part 1’.

According to frontman Jez Harley, the last few months have been the band’s most productive period to date. “It has been an exciting time for us, gigging heavily, recording the album and receiving a number of offers. The team at Cabbage Management have shown complete faith in what we are trying to achieve as a band. We now just need to ensure we sign to a label who share our ambition.”
