Seamussell have unearthed a seam of rich melody from britain’s folklore and paired it with a forward-looking production. atmospheric and personal, ‘sunny spells’ sets out like a contemplative leonard cohen over a textured, swirling musical backdrop but soon takes more playful and unexpected turns, including a mystical krautrock style diversion. bandleader seamus sell conducts a mightily refined group of players, but on tracks like ‘undo’ it’s his songwriting and voice that hits the hardest. lovely stuff.
Rough Trade April 2010

There is no mesmerizing back story here, seamussell seem to have appeared like the Tardis with a really original album of diverse songs which bite back and are difficult to pin down, but I’ll bet its soul lies somewhere between Shriekback and Steve Miller – am I right ?
